New: Video: No Place Like Home One RV neighbor's story

A statement from RV dwellers in Mountain View, CA, supported by the Stanford School of Medicine CCC&AOP program.

We are your neighbors too.

También somos sus vecinos.

We are your neighbors. We live in Mountain View, we work to support our community, and we are families with kids in school here. We are RV dwellers.

We aren’t living in RVs because we want to, but because we can’t afford anything else. Some of us rent our RVs, and some of us own them. We are proud of our homes. In our RVs, we have showers, stoves, tables, bedrooms and bathrooms. We pay a company to provide us with clean water and to collect the soiled water. We aren’t dirty. We aren’t criminals. We are your neighbors.

We are peaceful and respectful. We hear stories about people complaining that we are loud or a nuisance, but the people complaining have not visited us. We live next to train tracks and a park, and one apartment complex. Our apartment neighbors have no complaints.

The city of Mountain View hasn’t provided any long-term solutions to help us live somewhere else. Temporary safe parking lots are full. A plan to house us in a hotel for three or four months is not a solution. Like everyone else, we want stability. We contribute to our community, and we want permanent solutions.

Contribuimos a nuestra comunidad y queremos soluciones permanentes.

ACLU, Law Foundation sue Mountain View over RV ban

A coalition of legal groups contends that the RV ban is unconstitutional. We don't know if the Mountain View city council will still try to enforce it, so please email them to tell them not to evict families! city.council@mountainview.og

About the lawsuit against Mountain View / Sobre la demanda:

The courts have already ruled that cities cannot outlaw houselessness.

This is why Mountain View's ban is supposedly for "traffic safety."

But the city already addressed large-vehicle traffic safety issues in the past with targeted restrictions.

The lawsuit argues that the real intent of the law is to ban RV dwellers.

Please email the city council and ask them not to enforce this unconstitutional ban! city.council@mountainview.og
